고려 말의 공신 정승 언양부원군 김윤(倫)의
아들.
등과하여 도관 좌랑까지 올랐다가 공민왕 초에 군부 판서로
전직, 다시 추밀원사로 명을 받았다. 홍건적의 침입시에는 어가를
따라 남행하였고 적이 평정되자 평장사 이공수, 참정 황상과 함께 서울을
분담하여 지켰다. 호종의 공으로 일등 공신의 반열에 올랐다가 그
후 모종의 사건으로 순천부로 유배되었다.
