정인홍 (鄭仁弘)
[ 1535년(중종 30) ~ 1623년(인조 1) ]
조선 중기 문신·학자·의병장. 자는 덕원(德遠), 호는 내암(萊庵).
경상남도 합천(陝川) 출생.
선조 때 대북파의 영수로서 1592년(선조 25) 임진왜란(壬辰倭亂)
때는 의병을 모아 항전하여 영남의병장의 호를 받았다. 대사헌, 동지중추부사,
공조참판 등을 지내고, 서인인 류성룡(柳成龍)이 임진왜란(壬辰倭亂) 때 화의를
주장했다는 죄를 탄핵하여 사직케 한 다음 정권을 장악한 이후 좌참찬,
좌, 우의정을 역임하는 동안에 영창대군이 죽고, 인목대비가 서궁에
유폐되는 사건이 일어났다. 1623년 인조반정 후 참형되었다.
